What Is the Big Picture?

The First Big Idea

Applying people's energies to goals is a critical determinant of external success and internal satisfaction.

Enterprises, managers, and coaches are looking for ways to rapidly understand and easily apply people's energies to important challenges.

5 Dynamics is a radically innovative suite of online tools. It enables you to:

  • Measure how people prefer to work, learn, and collaborate.
  • Specify what any working pair, team, or process requires to be successful.
  • Map the individuals' energies to the process for optimal results.
  • Assist people in developing and adapting those energies, insofar as possible.

Energy refers to the ability to sustain high performance over time without stress. This is quite different from competence, which people have known how to measure for many years.

The Second Big Idea

These tools are based on process.

That is, they map directly to the work to be done and how people do it, not to a complicated self-referential vocabulary, subjective personality constructs, or a welter of statistical charts and graphs.

This makes 5 Dynamics simple for anyone to understand and apply.

When the people fit the process (and vice-versa) the business outcomes are dramatically improved and people feel a high degree of individual satisfaction.

People rapidly learn how to interact with each other on the basis of process.

What is "process?" Everything you do begins with an idea and ends with implementation. In between, you may need to involve other people and you will likely need a detailed plan.

These steps—idea, inspiring other people, planning, and execution—describe any process. Each one of them consistently attracts you to a greater or lesser degree. Mastering our energy—and knowing the energies of others—is a huge component of success and happiness.
